HBC 522 c.v. is an experimental variety from the Hop Breeding Company, a joint venture between John I. Haas and Yakima Chief Ranches. A cross between Columbus and an experimental male, HBC 522 is often compared to Centennial and Cascade because of its similar flavor profile — a mix of jasmine, bitter orange, grapefruit and pine needles. Its balanced character makes it an easy fit across a wide range of ale styles and hop combinations. Familiar flavor, refined for modern brewing.
