Cluster Hops
Cluster Hop Profile
Cluster is one of the oldest varieties growing in the U.S. with much of its origin uncertain. A balanced dual-purpose hop with moderate alpha (5.5-8.5%) and relatively low oil content, Cluster delivers notes of lilac, apricot, and lemon, rounded by herbal and earth-like aromas. Until the late 1970s, Cluster dominated farm acreage in the U.S., particularly in the Yakima Valley and Idaho.
This variety continues to grow with good vigor and cone production and remains celebrated for its storage stability. Often used in nostalgic and traditional styles, Cluster offers versatile flavor and utility across many types of beer. The original "C" hop that started it all.
