Citra Hops
Citra Hops
Citra Hop Profile
Citra®, the reigning superstar of the hop world in acreage and crowned #1 in our Top 10 Hops list. Developed by Hop Breeding Company and released in 2007, Citra's journey paralleled the rise of craft beer and revolutionized hop flavor in many beer styles, especially IPAs. Citra® is celebrated by brewers for its incomparable, citrus and sweet fruit flavor and aroma. Known for high geraniol content, which is biotransformed by yeast into citronellol — a highly sought-after aroma compound in fruit-forward beer styles. Citra® is strong enough to carry a beer on its own, yet pairs well with other varieties like Mosaic®, Galaxy®, Amarillo® and Dolcita™. A foundational, flavorful hop with universal utility and appeal.
