HOW TO PLAY:
2-4 Players: Deal 12 cards each
5-7 Players: Deal 10 cards each
Pass the Brew is a card drafting game that is played in 3 rounds. Each round is over when the players have used up all the cards. On a player's turn they select one card from their hand before passing the hand to the next player, in a clockwise motion. It is wise to keep your card a secret until everyone has made their selection, but once the hands are passed, then every player must place their card in front of them. Every turn each player selects a card and passes the hand until there are no cards remaining to pass. Once the round is over, then it is time to "brew" your beer and see how many points you get!
SCORING:
Points are awarded for brewing a batch of beer and more points are awarded for hoppier beers. At the end of each round, after all the cards have been selected, the players must arrange their ingredients to brew up as many points as possible.
A batch of beer requires four ingredients:
- Water
- Malt
- Yeast
- Hops
This base batch of beer is worth 10 points. More points are awarded for adding more hops (up to three) and for using bonus cards Double Dry Hop and Advanced Hop Products (AHP).
A batch of double IPA with two hops = 30 points
A batch of triple IPA with three hops = 60 points
A batch of triple IPA and a Double Dry Hop bonus = 120 points
The highest hand is a triple IPA + Double Dry Hop + AHP = 150 points
